REMINDER - Action Required: New Scout Registration - Information for Current Scouts

I know things have been a little different at the start of this school year, and that is because the National Organization of Scouting has changed how new scouts will register/pay dues and how existing scouts will pay dues going forward.

NEW SCOUTS - Joining Pack 193 this year for the first time (Lions, Tigers, and any other new scouts).

1. In a web browser, navigate to pack193.org
2. On the home page, under Contact Information, there is a link to NEW SCOUT SIGNUP - click on the link.  This will take you to the online application.  This application ties directly to our Pack.
3. You will fill out demographic information.  I am not sure if it will ask for Council or district.  In case it does, we are the Adventure West Council, the Big Horn District, Cub Pack 193 - F
4. You will be paying dues to Nationals and Council, for a 12-month period.  The total, I believe will be $185.  This will NOT collect dues for the Pack.  TOTAL DUES are $250, so there is an additional $65 that the Pack will collect at a later date.  HOWEVER, we will be discussing fundraising in our upcoming Pack Meeting.  Each Scout will have the opportunity to fundraise their dues.  After fundraising is over, we will determine if the Scout still owes any Pack dues or the Pack will cut a check back to the Scout for the dues they fundraised that covered the national and council dues.We will have a more detailed explanation on how this will work. Under the old way, we fundraised, first, but that isn't an option any more.
5. Registration and dues are good for 12 months.  Then we will go through a re-registration process next year in the month of October if you register in October.  There may be an option when registering now that allows you to auto-renew your registration next year.  That is something that is new, but I am not sure they worked it into the new registration process.
6. Once you submit your Scout's application, please email me directly at boko...@gmail.com so I can approve and accept it.  I should be notified, but I want to be sure I don't miss one.
7. Adult Leaders (Gabe, Casey) - you will need to register as an Adult (same link as above).  You can register yourself first, it might be easier as you link your name to your youth on their registration.  Your dues will be much less.  The Pack covers your dues, so we will cut you a check back after you register.  We can cut you a check next week at the Pack Meeting.

Existing Scouts - Have been with Pack 193 since last year or before

1. You will be re-registered for 2024 through the traditional recharter process.  This will be the last year for this process.  We will handle our fundraising first, then determine who owes what for dues, like we have done in the past.
2. This will be the last year for this process, and then the renewal process will shift to the individual.  I believe our renewal month will become December going forward in 2025.

I know it is a lot of information and please bear with me, this is all very new!
