Mi Gente,
The countdown begins! We are merely 5 1/2 weeks away from what stands
to be one of our best shows. The Festival Del Cuatro organization
proudly presents the 3rd Annual Festival Del Cuatro in California. It
is a tribute to Puerto Rican women and all women who struggle in
supporting a cause. And what better way but to lead by example and
bring some of the top performers of the Puerto Rican cuatro.
It's no coincidence that these wonderful performers happen to be
women. This was a deliberate attempt at saying, "yes we can". Just
as these women have said for all these years developing their
performing skills with the National instrument of Puerto Rico. This
years line up starts with a wonderful performance from Nelian Colon.
Performing some of the more traditional music from Puerto Rico in the
cuatro and tiple. Followed by Maribel Delgado. One of our great
young cuatristas directly from Camuy, Puerto Rico. Maribel will
entertain you with her rhythmic and lively style that will surely get
your body going. During Maribel's show we have a wonderful surprise.
A young performer at merely 12 yrs old. Her name is Fabiola. This
young cuatrista should be an example and serve as encouragement to our
children. Fabiola is currently recording in the next Banco Popular
Music CD. WOW!! Keep a lookout for our next communication within the
next few days. We will be giving you bio's of the performers and
links to see some pics and videos.
And last but not least! One of Puerto Rico's pioneering women to use
the Puerto Rican cuatro as her instrument of choice. Emma Colon
Zayas, has performed all across the US, Latin America and other parts
of the world. With her instrument she brings us that feeling of all
things Puerto Rican. Close your eyes and listen to her melodies that
will transport you to the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico.
To back all of these wonderful ladies, we will have Edwin Colon Zayas
y su Taller Campesino. This will be an evening you don't want to
