Hey everyone,

Meeting/Ableton workshop this Wednesday at 5:00
ATLS 200

I was thinking that for the next couple of meetings, I would be providing some Ableton workshops.  If you already know Ableton, I'd be happy to have some help teaching it.  This week I was going to go over the Operator instrument and provide a bit of introduction to synthesis and sound creation.  I was going to use a dubstep growl as the sound we are going for.  Not a simple wobble bass, but a roar.  I'd be happy to go for a different sound if others want something else.  Invite your friends and come learn new ways to express your creativity.

If you don't have Ableton, don't worry!  This is just to whet your appetite.  If we want to continue the workshops, hopefully we can find a place on campus with computers that have Ableton installed that will let us use their space.

Some other things we could do:
Intro to the Ableton interface
Track warping
Effects Editing/Utilization
Effect Rack Creation
Instrument Creation/Tweaking
Composition
Live Performance
Integration of other softwares
Advanced MIDI Mapping techniques
and much more...

For those of you on the fence, this workshop should be a good way to get a feel for how sound creation works and could provide a good starting point for further audio production.  It can be applied to many other softwares (that, incidentally, can be plugged into Ableton) including Massive, Alchemy, and any other plugin/software that uses ADSR (or AHDSR) oscillators.

If anyone else had an agenda that they wanted to see at the meetings, this isn't set in stone.

See you there
Peter

Hi Peter -

Unfortunately I could not make it to the meeting yesterday! However, I've been meaning to ask if you are still looking for help as leadership of the group? I'd be very interested in helping you guys out and getting projects together for the group to work on or presentations for them. Let me know how I can help.

Also, I have been working with Ableton for a few years and would be interested in presenting some tips and tricks to the group.

Thanks-
Jarad Christianson
