Hi everyone!

It is a very good meeting when no one can get a word in edgewise!

So....   Committees, start your engines!  These are our responsibilities (photos attached).

For SF events, here's a reminder of a fantastic evening coming THIS WEEK.  Don't miss the 'End of Cosmic Solitude is Nigh' presentation at a private home in Noe Valley.  Deadline has passed but perhaps a few more can squeeze in before end of day tomorrow.  Evening will conclude promptly at 8, so you'll be home at a decent hour.  Call Ellen 415 913 8520 if you are running late or need directions.  Free thanks to our wonderful Alma Mater.

The End of Cosmic Solitude is Nigh
Date: Thursday, June 25th, 2015
Location: Details upon RSVP - Noe Valley, San Francisco
Time: 6 - 8PM
RSVP & Register
here. Limited space.

From the science of exoplanets, to the origins of life, we are on the cusp of answering two of the greatest existential questions: Are we alone? Where do we come from?
The Columbia Alumni Association and Columbia NorCal, in partnership with Columbia's Science Initiative, invites you to join fellow alumni to a special conversation and cocktail reception with Professor Caleb Scharf, Director of Astrobiology at Columbia University. Participate in an interactive conversation as he shares the exciting developments happening at this research frontier. He will also describe the groundbreaking work taking place at Columbia in astrobiology that might provide answers within years, not centuries.
Welcome and introduction by Amber Miller, Dean of Science, Columbia's Science Initiative.

Conversation and cocktail reception hosted by and at the home of Michael Shuster '83GSAS '85PS '86GSAS and Richard McCracken.

Ideas for events in San Francisco?  Looking for a venue?  Let our committee know!

Sincerely, and great meeting everyone,

Ellen

PS.  I crossed myself off the well-staffed marketing committee because the other assignments are of greater interest.
