Major kudos to Matt, Nadine, Stephen, and anyone else involved in setting up this event! Really enjoyed the location and the talk.
Responding to Matt's request for feedback
a) how to make events more awesome
-overall they run great. one thing might be the time management of the different parts of the speakers' journey. their stories are really interesting and insightful, but in the case of this event, we only had a little time at the end to squeeze in their acquisition (including why they chose to be acquired, internal discussions/arguments about whether to get more funding or hang on for RL to close the deal, etc).
b) not really sure on this one. i come in from sunnyvale, so part of the reason i have trouble convincing people i know out here to attend is bc they dont want to leave work early and brave the rush hr traffic (hard to blame em :/ )
c) for speakers to invite, do we want to broaden it to earlier stage companies that are getting traction? one startup i know of is Sunski (
www.sunskis.com) that got started through their kickstarter. I dont know the founders well (prolly about acquaintance level to be honest), but if I'm the best contact among the board members and we want to go to earlier stage startups, I could connect Matt to meet em.
