Planning Meeting

A few people have suggested that a planning meeting is required,

Instead of small parties trying to solve bothasig and surround problems, lets get together and put a plan in place to solve all problems together.

Does anyone have a venue with WIND on a large screen, that is willing to host the meeting?

Suggestions as to time for meeting

Mondays to Thursdays I am not available, outside that is OK with me,  How about Sat Morning the 19th at 9am.  that gives enough time to make yourself available.

Well first things first...

I also keep hearing about these "problems" but it seems nobody talks about them.  What exactly are the problems, and what needs to be addressed?

Personally, you can plan and talk and plan and talk all that you want, but unless you get on the roof and actually DO something, nothing is going to happen :)  Not stepping on any toes or throwing rocks, I'm just saying...  When my HS went live, I pretty much contacted every single node in Bothasig that wasn't connected, introducing myself, and asking them to scan and see whether they can connect to me.  I think I had 2 people that scanned, with 1 that couldn't see me, and 1 that had a bad link...  At least my neighbor across the road moved to make my investment into all my kit worth while...

Even just with me connecting, I was forced to connect to SouthPen due to "problems" in Bothasig.  So let's just hear about what the problems are first.  Perhaps they are easier to solve than one would think, if a little bit of work is just done.  We managed to sort out Langgat yesterday rather nicely, with a bit of work...

Anyways, as I am sure all of us are employed full time, and allot of us have wifes, kids, and babies (Heinrich, my 1.5yr old girl needs a friend more, come and braai!), may I suggest that we look at either a Saturday or a Sunday....  I would offer my place up, but my place is currently looking like a construction yard with all the building going on there currently.

I don't have a large screen\projector. (one 42" tv in the livingroom)

A simple WIND printout of the area on a few A4 pages should do?

We are currently getting ready to paint half of the house on the inside. But for a meeting with a handshake and some ideas thrown around we can  do it at my place.

Coffee and tee and biscuits I can supply with ease.

You'll have to wait a bit Chris my boy is only 7 months on Saturday he just started to sit up straight. :)

But by all means bring her and your wife with for a meet-up :)

Perhaps a point on the agenda could be: Assisting new Wuggers- would make for a better experience if we perhaps had an avenue to request be it either instalation help and or setting up the software help from those who would not mind.

I aslo second that we need to find a solution to connecting up the whole area.

That's simple.

If you are contacted by a new wugger send him to read the how to's. Area admin cannot be expected to help every single new guy. Doesn't it kind of sort itself out by people contacting people they know who are connected to the wug or on the forums? 

When you know to whom you have line of site after getting the test kit you need to contact the admin of the sector you want to connect to. 

Some posts in the plattekloof area on the ctwug forums should answer all these questions for a new wugger. Appointing one person isn't really viable.

Between IRC , The forums , emails , helping one day with the setup on langgat's roof and actually knocking on two peoples doors I got helped very quickly.

Are people having problems? Getting your hand on the test kit is the biggest issue...

you are right Tangmosnter911, but it is an issue to get the test kit. but it sure is nice to be able to help if you have the time when one needs it. i dont know how many people Louis for instance has helped onto the wug, i know i for one was one that had been trying to get on for 2 years..... so that help does count.
