The two m16 samples I have is probably to small for this(worst case is it doesn't make much difference ,really can't do any harm) but this is the information on the vents from Gore:

In very simple terms they can pass air but not moisture.

Obviously for best heat exchange you want a hole at the bottom and the top of an enclosure, but holes are bad for moisture. Fan to push through extra airflow can only help.

if the enclosure is completely sealed only heat exchange between the inside and outside is through metal panel.
