Hello Fellow Carvers,
I have made a reservation at Threadgills, at 6416 N. North Lamar, for
our Christmas Party. It will be on our regular meeting night,
Thursday, December 10th, at 7:00; so hopefully everyone will be able
to attend.
We will have our own room and will be able to order off the menu with
separate checks.
This location is the original restaurant, which used to be an old gas
station in the 1930s on the main highway from Dallas to San Antonio.
In the 1960-70s, Threadgills was known as a place where musicians
gathered to jam, and many famous artist played for free there before
they became well known. Janis Joplin was a real favorite there.
The food is typical "Diner" food, such as chicken fried steak or
chicken livers. They have an outstanding list of sides to choose from;
cheese grits, broccolli with rice and cheese, and creamed spinach
being some of my favorites. Yummy desserts are a standard if you have
any room left in your stomach; various fruit pies, cream pies with
piled high meringue, and great cobbler to name a few.
For more information regarding the location and food available, you
can check out their web-site.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all there. Bring some show and tell
items and come hungry.
