Dear Council Members,
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the launch of the first issue of the Revista Brasileira de Estudos CTS(Brazilian Journal of Science, Technology and Society Studies), a publication maintained by ESOCITE.BR – the Brazilian Association for Social Studies of Science and Technology.
The journal represents a historic milestone for the consolidation of STS studies in Brazil, the result of a collective effort by scholars from different terms of the Association. Interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and critical in nature, its proposal is ambitious: to understand the multiple articulations between scientific knowledge, technological development, and social and ecological relations, while also seeking to transform the cognitive and material foundations of contemporary society.
The official launch will take place during the 11th National Symposium on Science, Technology and Society of ESOCITE.BR, on September 17, 2025, at 8:00 p.m., in the Ecumenical Chapel of UFPA (Belém/PA), followed by a celebratory cocktail.
This inaugural edition brings together 12 prominent authors, reflecting diversity in gender, race, region, and generation. The articles range from fundamental historical issues, such as the trajectory of Cobra Computadores, to urgent contemporary challenges, such as vaccine hesitancy, scientific denialism, and the impacts of artificial intelligence, among others. It is a true mosaic of the best STS scholarship in Brazil, serving as a foundation for strengthening the field’s agenda.
In addition to this debut, the journal is already open for submissions for its next issue, inviting the academic community to contribute with fresh perspectives and new studies.

Es con gran satisfacción que las/los invitamos al lanzamiento del primer número de la Revista Brasileña de Estudios CTS, publicación mantenida por ESOCITE.BR – Asociación Brasileña de Estudios Sociales de la Ciencia y la Tecnología.
La revista representa un hito histórico para la consolidación de los Estudios CTS en Brasil, resultado de un esfuerzo colectivo de investigadoras e investigadores de distintas gestiones de la Asociación. Con un carácter interdisciplinario, transdisciplinario y crítico, su propuesta es ambiciosa: comprender las múltiples articulaciones entre conocimiento científico, desarrollo tecnológico y relaciones sociales y ecológicas, al mismo tiempo que busca transformar las bases cognitivas y materiales de la sociedad contemporánea.
El lanzamiento oficial tendrá lugar durante el 11º Simposio Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad de ESOCITE.BR, el 17 de septiembre de 2025, a las 20:00 horas, en la Capilla Ecuménica de la UFPA (Belém/PA), seguido de un cóctel de celebración.
Esta edición inaugural reúne a 12 autoras y autores destacados, reflejando diversidad de género, raza, región y generación. Los artículos abordan desde cuestiones históricas fundamentales, como la trayectoria de Cobra Computadores, hasta desafíos contemporáneos urgentes, como la vacilación vacunal, el negacionismo científico y los impactos de la inteligencia artificial, entre otros. Se trata de un verdadero mosaico de las mejores investigaciones CTS en Brasil, que sirve de base para el fortalecimiento de la agenda en el área.
Además de esta primera entrega, la revista ya tiene abiertas las convocatorias para el próximo número, invitando a la comunidad académica a contribuir con nuevas reflexiones y estudios.
