About the webinar

How can design research contribute to technology assessment? In this webinar, Wouter Nieuwenhuizen, a researcher at the Rathenau Instituut involved in the Inclusive online study, shares insights into their design-oriented research approach, including co-design sessions with LGBTQI+ participants, who disproportionately experience exclusion and harm online. We will discuss how 'design from the margins' can help inform better research on the impact of digital technologies by centering experiences of marginalised people, instead of seeing their perspective as mere edge cases. The webinar explores how design research can enrich technology assessment by making visible lived experiences, design choices, and opportunities for more inclusive digital technologies.

The webinar will conclude with time for questions and discussion.
