Venue for PyCon ZA 2013

Greetings

We need to find a venue for this year's PyCon ZA. Our requirements are:

* Space for ~300 people.
* Rooms for two talk tracks.
* Available on 3-4 October.
* Ideally have somewhere nearby to hold sprints on the weekend.
* Ideally have a couple of smaller rooms for running workshops and tutorials

Suggestions welcomed.

I like to suggest a winefarm-conference-center-setup for this year. I don't know if we should do it in a big/two tent(s) on Lourens Ford Wine Estate, http://www.lourensford.co.za/

It is a very calm place... for the Python Uke's

While it is a nice venue, last year we were aiming for a smaller
number. It's not obvious to me that we'll be able to manage 300 people
in the Clock Tower.

So my concerns with holding the conference on a wine-farm:

a) I don't see it working as a sprint venue - and this year I'd really
like to have the sprints closer to the acual conference venue.

b) One of the important parts of a conference like this is the social
interactions around the conference - if most of the attendees are
commuting across in the morning and then heading back immediately at
the end of the day, I don't see narly of much of that happening as I'd
like.

c) Hosting key-note speakers and the like -it generally makes a bunch
of stuff easier if they can be housed reasonably close to the
conference venue, and the wine-farm idea reduces our options there a
bit.


None of these are impossible to overcome, but they're aspects that
need to be thought about.

Then I trump your objection and say we are doing it old-school this year. Pen & Paper. ;p

Go look at the place in person first. No one will wanna go home, it is awesomely pretty there.

The restaurant is small, http://www.lourensford.co.za/Eat.aspx?EATID=319&CLIENTID=4777

so only the speakers can eat there. The Phythonistas will have to do Bring & Braai.
