Position Overview
Vance-Granville Community College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Anatomy & Physiology Instructor to teach hybrid evening courses that serve a diverse community-college student population. The ideal candidate will be passionate about student
success, skilled in active learning strategies, and comfortable teaching in both online and in-person formats.
Key Responsibilities

Teach Anatomy & Physiology I & II in a hybrid format (combination of online instructional material and scheduled in-person evening class sessions).

Deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and learning activities that support student understanding of human structure and function.

Facilitate laboratory sessions and ensure safe, effective use of lab equipment and models (if applicable).

Maintain clear communication with students through LMS announcements, email, office hours, and feedback.

Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, exams, lab reports, and other assessments aligned with course outcomes.

Use the college’s Learning Management System (LMS) to post content, manage grades, and track attendance.

Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning and retention.

Participate in required adjunct training, departmental meetings, and professional development as needed.

Uphold college policies, academic integrity standards, and Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Physiology, or a closely related discipline,
OR
-
Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in a related biological science field.

Experience teaching at the community college or university level preferred, but strong candidates with industry or clinical experience will be considered.

Ability to teach in a hybrid environment, including proficiency with online instruction tools and LMS platforms.

Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and supporting students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience teaching Anatomy & Physiology I & II with lab.

Experience teaching in hybrid, online, or technology-enhanced environments.

Knowledge of evidence-based teaching strategies and active-learning pedagogies.

Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Work Environment & Schedule
-
Courses meet in person during evening hours, with additional online components completed asynchronously.

Instructor must be available for evening class sessions and occasional meetings or trainings.

Hybrid teaching support and instructional technology resources are provided.
