BPL Lights the Birthday Candle for America's 250th Celebration With Free Events, Free Books & a Month of Fun
Bridgeport, CT (July 1, 2026) – The Bridgeport Public Library (BPL) is kicking off a month-long celebration of America's 250th anniversary tomorrow, Thursday, July 2nd, with THREE free community events launching at three branch locations. The month long series will bring together families, teens, and adults for interactive activities, live performances, film screenings, and more all at no cost to attendees.
As part of the celebration, the Friends of the Bridgeport Public Library will provide free copies of “The History of the Constitution” by Lisa Trusiani to children visiting BPL branches during the America's 250th events. The book is a perfect keepsake for the historic milestone and offers young readers an introduction to the very document at the heart of American democracy. Available while supplies last.
