FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 28 Expected to Mark Largest Coordinated Demonstrations in U.S. History

More than 3,000 No Kings Day events are scheduled across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.—with new gatherings added daily—putting March 28 on track to become the largest single‑day protest in American history. Coordinated No Kings rallies are also planned in Ireland, France, Germany, the UK, Portugal, Spain, and additional countries.

During last October’s No Kings 2 demonstrations, an estimated 12,000 people gathered at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford, and roughly 7 million participated worldwide. With more than 47 registered rallies already planned across Connecticut on March 28th, organizers expect significantly higher turnout.

Minnesota’s Twin Cities (Minneapolis and Saint Paul) will serve as the national hub for No Kings 3, highlighting recent actions against residents by federal agencies, including ICE. While each rally maintains distinct programming, all events aim to elevate democratic values and bring attention to issues affecting immigrant communities, transgender individuals, Black Americans, Muslims, women, LGBTQ people, and other marginalized groups. Organizers also plan to address impacts of current federal policies and U.S. military actions.

The Hartford No Kings Rally—sponsored by more than two dozen community organizations—will feature Kica Matos, President of the National Immigrants Legal Center, as MC. “While we expected harsh immigration enforcement tactics from this administration, the scale of events in Minneapolis was shocking,” Matos said. “In moments like these, it becomes even more important to stand up for the dignity and safety of every person in our community—regardless of race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, identity, or background.”  Matos added, “This isn’t about immigrants or one group; it’s about who we are together. It's about democracy itself. The No Kings Day gathering is a celebration of connection, compassion, and shared responsibility. It reminds us that division doesn’t define us—our commitment to looking out for one another does.”

Hartford organizer Carol Rizzolo from CT Shoreline Indivisible emphasized that the event will be a peaceful gathering focused on civic engagement. “We will have speakers, music, a public constitution‑signing, bubbles, and giant puppets,” Rizzolo said. “Most importantly, we want to harness the energy of an engaged public and encourage continued action that reflects the strength of our diverse communities.”

Organizers anticipate approximately 15,000 attendees in Hartford. The rally begins at 10:00 a.m. on the north side of the Connecticut State Capitol. Around noon, programming will shift to the south side for an afternoon activist fair.
