JILLIAN GILCHREST STATEMENT ON CONGRESSMAN LARSON SEEKING RE-ELECTION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 12, 2025

West Hartford, CT — Jillian Gilchrest, a state representative from West Hartford and candidate for Congress in Connecticut’s 1st District, issued the following statement on Congressman John Larson’s re-election announcement:

“I admire Congressman Larson’s public service and respect his decision to seek re-election. I’m not running for Congress as a referendum on John Larson — I’m running because Congress as a whole isn’t listening to the voices of everyday people and has failed to deliver the change families need. We can’t keep expecting the same people to do better next time.

“Daily life has become unaffordable for Connecticut workers, gun violence continues to plague our communities, and climate disasters threaten our safety and infrastructure. From public education to health care to reproductive freedom, we have been losing ground for too long. Donald Trump is causing hardship and chaos every day, but his rise is also the result of a Congress that allowed the wealthy to take control of our government and failed to act as Americans were sold out.

“Our families deserve a representative who will meet this moment with urgency and deliver real solutions — as I’ve done here in Connecticut on paid leave, gun safety, and reproductive freedom. We can’t wait any longer.”
