WHAT:          Mayor Ganim and the City of Bridgeport will host Fairfield County Building Trades’ memorial ceremony for the 39^th Anniversary of the L’Ambiance Plaza collapse. The ceremony will commemorate and remember the 28 lives that were lost with a memorial service and laying of a wreath at the L’Ambiance Plaza Memorial.

On April 23, 1987, 28 workers were crushed to death at the site of the L’Ambiance development due to faulty lift slab construction. Every year, organized labor, family members and friends have gathered to remember and pay tribute to the workers who died, the families, the rescue workers and all those who assisted in any way during and after the collapse.
