What: The City of New Haven, Regional Plan Association, Park New Haven, and the Connecticut Department of Transportation and Department of Economic and Community Development will co-host a forum on the exciting redevelopment plans at New Haven’s iconic Union Station and the area surrounding it.

Rail planning representatives from around the country will bring their expertise from long-term development and planning strategies for large city rail terminals across the United States to the redevelopment plan for New Haven’s Union Station.

New Haven’s Union Station has long been synonymous with the city; servicing thousands of rail passengers each year and serving as an architectural icon for the City of New Haven. Recently, The City of New Haven recently entered into a new 55-year partnership agreement with the State of Connecticut to redevelop the two surface parking lots and triple the retail offerings at New Haven Union Station.

Members of the forum will discuss development frameworks for Union Station, its adjacent lots and the historic neighborhood the station anchors.

About the New Haven Union Station Partnership

In honor of the centennial celebration of the historic New Haven Union Station, the City and State agreed to launch the “New Haven Union Station Partnership” (USP), a new era in managing State of Connecticut-owned rail stations in New Haven. Since the Centennial celebration, the City and State worked diligently to craft a new Lease, Operating and Funding (LOF) agreement detailing the overall operation and management of Union Station and State Street Station. In parallel, the USP has teamed to outline capital improvements to the Union Station Campus facilities, and other related improvements for the area.
