MURPHY JOINS CT YOUTH SPORTS LEADERS ON THE HEELS OF INTRODUCING BILL TO KICK PRIVATE EQUITY OUT OF YOUTH SPORTS
***HAPPENING SOON, Friday, May 15th @ 12:00PM***
Hartford, CT – Today, Friday, May 15th, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) will hold a press conference on the Let Kids Play Act, new, bicameral legislation to combat private equity’s takeover of youth sports.
For years, Wall Street and private equity firms have deliberately inflated the cost of youth sports in Connecticut and across the country – saddling families with thousands of dollars in price hikes and junk fees, while locking millions of lower-income children out of youth sports altogether. Families routinely go into debt to keep their kids in sports, with the average cost exceeding $5,000 a year.
Sen. Murphy will join Connecticut-based youth sports advocates and local leaders to call for the passage of his Let Kids Play Act to end private equity’s destructive transformation of youth sports.
