TAX BILLS IN THE MAIL, OFFICE HOURS EXTENDED FOR COLLECTION

NEW HAVEN- Earlier this week, approximately 71,000 tax bills hit the
mail on their way to New Haven tax payers. These bills are for personal
property, motor vehicle and real estate taxes. In an effort to
accommodate the busy schedules of residents, the Office of the Tax
Collector will remain open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through
Friday from Thursday, June 24 through Thursday, July 1. The Office of
the Tax Collector will also have extended hours from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday from Thursday,
July 22 through Monday, August 2.

“We want to make it convenient for every resident to be able to come
to the this office to pay their tax bills,” said Maurine Villani, the
City’s Tax Collector. “Residents can make their payments on-line at
www.cityofnewhaven.com or they can visit us in City Hall to make
payments in person. We’re proud of our 98.36 percent collection rate
from last year and hope to meet or exceed that number this year.
Everyone just needs to make sure to pay their share on time.”

Tax payments are due on July 1, 2010, and residents have until August
2, 2010 to pay without interest or penalty.
