Office of State Ethics Lobbyists Selected for 2022 Audit

Hartford – On Thursday, November 18, 2021, the Citizen’s Ethics Advisory Board randomly selected 10 client lobbyists to be audited in 2022 by the Office of State Ethics.

The Office of State Ethics is required to annually audit registration and disclosure reports of lobbyists to promote accountability for lobbyists’ activities. Our random selection of lobbyists is performed periodically by our staff in a public meeting under the observation of the Citizen’s Ethics Advisory Board.

The primary purpose of the audit is to determine whether information reported to the Office of State Ethics is timely, accurate and complete. The lobbyists to be audited were selected from a pool of all client lobbyists who were registered at any time during the audit period:  January 1, 2019 thru December 31, 2021.

The audits will be conducted in the order that the lobbyists were selected.  The selections are as follows:

1.               Carpenters Labor Management Program

2.               Connecticut Votes for Animals

3.               Bloom Energy

4.               NEAM

5.               Eversource

6.               Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc.

7.               Yale University

8.               Aunt Bertha/FindHelp

9.               Tesla Motors, Inc.

10.            Connecticut Pharmaceutical Solutions

Connecticut’s lobbying laws are in place to prevent corruption and provide transparency by showing the citizens of the state who is spending money on lobbying, what issues are being targeted, and how the money is being spent.  In the course of auditing the selected client lobbyists, the Office of State Ethics will also audit all associated communicator lobbyists.
