Acting Chief Garcia Swears in Class #43 At the Bridgeport Police Academy

12 New Cadets for BPD Include 4 Bridgeport Residents

 

BRIDGEPORT, CT -- Acting Chief Garcia welcomed and swore in Class #43 Bridgeport Police recruits on their first day at the Bridgeport Academy. Today the recruits meet their instructors for “Drill & Ceremony” and embark on a 30-week training that will include rigorous physical training as well as in depth community engagement.

 

Acting Chief Garcia stated, “I want to take this opportunity to both welcome and congratulate all police recruits who have commenced the Bridgeport Police Training Academy, Class #43. Class #43 reflects a diverse class which encompasses not only male but female recruits as well. I am looking forward to their progression and evolvement into professional men and women who will be joining the rank of police officer for the City of Bridgeport’s Police Department and are dedicated to serving our community.”

 

Class #43 has a total of 16 recruits, 12 of which will work to become members of the Bridgeport Police Department; 4 are Bridgeport residents.  The diverse class of cadets about to join the ranks of the department includes 1 Hispanic female, 1 Caucasian female, 1 Asian male, 6 African American males, and 3 Caucasian males.
