What: Black community leaders came together and developed a change.org petition requesting the removal Of Middletown Senator Matt Lesser From the Connecticut legislative Black and Puerto Rican Caucus due to the fact that he voted against the educational needs of Middletown Connecticut most vulnerable children.

On June 8, 2023, at 11:48pm, 12 minutes before midnight, like a scene from a Cinderella story gone bad, on the last day of the legislative session, the Senator pulled the funding from a highest scoring approved charter school. He didn’t have the decency to speak with the young people, his young constituents, about why he chose that course of action.

The Black and Puerto Rican caucus was formed in 1976 to support the political and empowerment needs of Connecticuts minority community.  Senator Matt Lesser’s actions go against the BPRC mission, in our opinion.
