COMING UP: Rep. Courtney Meets with New London Homeless Hospitality Staff to Discuss UNITE CT Emergency Rental Assistance Program

NORWICH, CT—This morning at 10:30am ET, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) will visit All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in New London to meet with Cathy Zall, Executive Director of the New London Homeless Hospitality Center, Connecticut Department of Housing Commissioner Seila Mosquero-Bruno, and several others to discuss the current status of the UNITE CT Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). With over 20,000 registered applicants and more than $5.4 million dollars paid in rental assistance, the Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) is expected to make new updates to the ERAP to increase accessibility to even more renters who are facing housing insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UNITE CT ERAP is a product of H.R. 133, the federal omnibus and COVID-19 relief bill that Rep. Courtney voted to pass on December 21st, 2020 in the House of Representatives. Its passage allocated $235 million in rental assistance funds for families in need throughout Connecticut. The Connecticut DOH is expected to receive another $186 million in a second tranche of federal funds for rental assistance from the American Rescue Plan Act (H.R. 1319), which was signed into law on March 11th.
