MONDAY: Larson to Host Parkville Listening Tour on Government Shutdown and Affordability Crisis

Hartford, CT – On Monday, November 10th, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) will host a Parkville listening tour with nonprofits and small businesses, who are seeing firsthand the impact of the government shutdown and ongoing affordability crisis.

Media should RSVP to Charles Perosino at (202) 209-3828.

Visit with Rep. Rosa DeLauro to Hands on Hartford

At 11:00 AM, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) will visit Hands on Hartford with Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and their Executive Director, Janet Bermudez, to hear firsthand about the impact of the government shutdown and Donald Trump’s illegal cut off of SNAP benefits on Hartford residents.

Hands on Hartford and its team of more than 1,400 volunteers work with the Hartford community to address food insecurity and homelessness through programs like their Community Pantry and Gather55, a participation model restaurant that serves all residents, regardless of their ability to pay. Following President Trump’s decision to illegally cut off funding for SNAP, they have seen a growing need in the community for their services.

Reps. Larson and DeLauro will hear directly from staff and volunteers on the impact of the government shutdown on the population Hands on Hartford serves every day. Larson is cosponsoring bills in Congress to prevent the Trump Administration from continuing their illegal cut off of funding for SNAP nutrition benefits, and to ensure heating assistance remains funded during the government shutdown.

When: Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00am

Larson (CT-01) will host a small business tour with Carlos Mouta to hear directly from small business owners who are being squeezed by today’s affordability crisis and President Trump’s cost-raising tariffs. They will visit LiteBox Studios at 1429 Park Street and vendors at Parkville Market.

Thanks to President Trump’s costly tariff regime, the average household will have to pay $1,800 more per year. As a member of the House Trade Subcommittee, Rep. Larson introduced legislation to suspend the President’s tariffs and require Congress to vote before new tariffs can go into effect.
