Attorney General Tong and Municipal Leaders to Hold Media Availability After Oral Arguments to Urge Rejection
(Hartford, CT) – At 10 a.m. Monday, March 16 in New Britain, Attorney General William Tong will personally argue before the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority to urge rejection of the sale of Aquarion Company to a new non-profit entity that would double household water bills, gut consumer protections and end public oversight over water rates.

On Friday, March 6, PURA reversed itself and preliminarily approved the sale. On Monday, PURA will hear oral argument from Attorney General Tong, Office of the Consumer Counsel, company representatives and other interested parties as they consider whether to finalize that draft decision.
Immediately following the oral argument outside PURA, Attorney General Tong will be joined by municipal leaders for a media availability.
