TORRINGTON — As the opioid epidemic continues to devastate Connecticut families, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and U.S. Representative Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) will join Torrington Mayor Elinor Carbone, Torrington Police Chief Michael Maniago, Torrington Fire Chief Gary Brunoli, and State Representative Michelle Cook to provide an update on their continued efforts at the local, state, and federal levels to increase access to medication-assisted treatment, expand prevention strategies, and secure emergency federal funding that will help Torrington and other Connecticut towns end the opioid crisis. Last month, Congress failed to approve emergency funding and left Washington for the summer without providing the states with the resources they need to curb the crisis.
