EMBARGOED: MURPHY, SENATE DEMOCRATS TO INTRODUCE LANDMARK, BICAMERAL $25 FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE BILL

***Thursday, June 25th @ 12:00PM***

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Thursday, June 25th at 12 PM will hold a press conference with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Representative Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.-03), workers, and labor leaders, to announce historic legislation to raise the federal minimum wage to $25. As skyrocketing food, housing, and energy costs make it impossible for many full-time workers to get by, the Living Wage for All Act will strike back against the corporate takeover of our economy and renew the American dream for working families.

Senator Murphy’s legislation is the companion to the federal $25 minimum wage bill introduced in the House by Rep. Ramirez this April. There is nowhere in America where a worker with just one dependent can afford their basic needs by working full time at an hourly wage under $25, yet 45 percent of American workers make less than $25 an hour. The Living Wage For All Act would change the lives of tens of millions of American workers and their families.
