CSEA SEIU Local 2001, SEIU 1199NE, and CEUI SEIU Local 511 endorsed Laurel Steinhauser’s candidacy for state representative of the 32nd district.
“We are hopeful our members’ support helps bring victory to your candidacy,” wrote President Steven Anderson of Local 2001 in a letter to Laurel.
“We recognize that you understand the issues most important to our union members and all workers in Connecticut,” wrote CEUI President Ron McLellan.
1199 President David W. Pickus expressed similar sentiments on behalf of his labor organization in a third letter to Laurel.
Connecticut-based Local 2001 and CEUI, and New England-based 1199 together represent over 50,000 workers and retires in a wide range of industries.
“CSEA, 1199, and CEUI are dedicated to increasing the quality of life for their respective members by advocating for decent wages, fair working conditions, access to quality health care, and dignity in retirement, things that all working people should be able to rely on,” said Laurel. “The work that each of these labor groups have committed themselves to has been crucial for promoting fairness on the job, not only for their members but for all Connecticut workers. I am grateful for their support and look forward to advocating on behalf of Cromwell and Portland’s working families as state representative.”
CSEA, 1199, and CEUI join a growing list of labor organizations and progressive groups that support Laurel’s candidacy, including NASW/CT, AFT Connecticut, Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut, Region 9A of the UAW, the Working Families Party, NARAL, the AFL-CIO, the AFSCME, and CT NOW.
Laurel has been going door-to-door meeting with voters in both Cromwell and Portland, listening to their concerns and sharing her ideas. She has launched a campaign website laurelforstaterep.com and can be found on Facebook at facebook.com/laurelforstaterep.
