FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Homeless and Housing Supports Resource Fair for Older Adults Announced for May 18 in New Haven

New Haven, CT (May 14, 2026) — The Greater New Haven Regional Alliance to End Homelessness will host an Older Adults Homeless and Housing Supports Resource Fair on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the gym at the Dixwell Community House (Q House), 197 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven.
This community event will bring together more than 30 service providers, housing specialists, healthcare partners, and advocacy organizations to support older adults who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Attendees will have access to benefits assistance, housing navigation, wellness resources, and information on programs designed to promote stability, safety, and long-term wellbeing.

“Older adults face unique challenges in securing safe and stable housing, and this fair is an opportunity to connect homeless and senior service providers so the two systems can address this growing problem collaboratively,” said Jim Farrales, President and CEO of Continuum of Care. “Roughly 44% of the homeless population in the region are age 55 or older. Rising rents, fixed incomes, fewer age-appropriate housing options, and lack of ADA units are all major causes of this. Many are challenged with medical and behavioral health needs. Our goal is to make services more accessible and to strengthen the network of care for some of our most vulnerable neighbors.”

The Resource Fair is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
