
(HARTFORD, CT) – On Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) will hold a public hearing regarding Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s proposal to close its satellite unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury and relocate the inpatient beds and pediatric services provided there to CCMC’s main campus in Hartford.
Pursuant to multiple sections of the General Statutes, the Health Systems Planning Unit is a section of DPH that administers the Certificate of Need program—a regulatory responsibility to promote statewide health facility and service development, and to monitor the community impact of provider acquisitions and consolidations.
