No Thanks, Ryan. We Already Know Exactly Who You Are.

HARTFORD - Ryan Fazio said he wants to "reintroduce" himself to Connecticut voters.

So let’s go ahead and remind voters who he is.

Fazio is a Republican state senator from Greenwich who launched his campaign for governor by giving a convention speech that immediately fell apart under the scrutiny of a fact check.

CT Insider found that Fazio’s claims to be a legislative dealmaker far less impressive than advertised, his tax claims were false or misleading, and his attacks on Connecticut’s economy relied on selective rankings and partisan framing. Let’s see how he did this time:

  • Fazio again inflated his own legislative achievements. A reminder: none of the nine bills he introduced this session made it out of committee.

  • Fazio again cherry-picked tax statistics from right-wing sources while ignoring the largest income tax cut in Connecticut history, the expansion of CT’s Earned Income Tax Credit, and eight consecutive balanced budgets.

  • Fazio again sidestepped the facts on Connecticut’s strong economic performance under Governor Lamont, selectively curating stats to paint a misleading picture while ignoring one of the fastest growing economies in the nation, the largest income tax cut in Connecticut history, billions paid down in unfunded pension debt, and tens of thousands of jobs created under Governor Lamont.

Curiously, Fazio’s reintroduction left out any mention of his many votes that are out of step with Connecticut voters. Instead, he’s hoping a bit of polish will distract voters from the hard-right, MAGA-style agenda that he believes in.

  • He’ll side with MAHA anti-vaccine activists over public health officials and doctors.

  • He’ll continue to oppose reproductive freedom – having called Roe v. Wade “offensive to the rule of law.”

  • He’ll continue to ignore Donald Trump’s rampant corruption, his economic warfare against Connecticut, and the skyrocketing costs of his reckless war with Iran.

  • He’ll do nothing as Republicans strip healthcare and food assistance from Connecticut’s working families.

  • He’ll continue fighting to stop funding for schools and towns and allowing private equity investors to gut services for nursing home residents and children

He can write as many self-serving “reintroductions” as he wants, but Connecticut voters deserve to know the real Ryan: a special interest-owned Republican who offers only misleading statistics, inflated accomplishments, and the same failed MAGA-style policies that Donald Trump is peddling in Washington. His agenda would drag Connecticut backwards on guns, health care, reproductive freedom, and affordability – just to start.

If he wants to attempt another fact-check, maybe he can start there.
