-Press Release-
Mayor Ganim and The City of Bridgeport Emergency Operations Activate Cold Weather Protocol from 5:00 PM Thursday, December 25, 2025 to 10:00 AM Sunday, December 28, 2025
Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim and the Office of Emergency Management advise all residents to be cautious from 5:00 PM of December 25th through 10:00 AM of December 28th as a period of intense cold will be in the Bridgeport area resulting in very low wind chill values that are forecasted to be near zero.
In anticipation of freezing temperatures, residents must take caution and make necessary preparations ahead of inclement weather instances. Residents should allow for extra travel time on roadways and should be most careful during morning commutes due to possible slippery road conditions. Residents should also be cautious of possible flood areas underneath viaducts and underpasses and should not attempt to drive through these flooded areas.
Forecast
Over the next four days, temperatures on Thursday night are expected to fall into the teens across most of the state. A northerly wind of 5–10 mph, with occasional gusts up to 20 mph, will produce wind chill values in the single digits and near zero in
some areas. Wind chills Friday night and Saturday night are also expected to drop below 10 degrees in parts of the state.
