MAYOR JUSTIN ELICKER, DISCOVERING AMISTAD & OTHERS TO WELCOME THE SCHOONER AMISTAD BACK TO ITS HOMEPORT AT LONG WHARF PIER
Special free community events scheduled between June 29 – July 4th
NEW HAVEN, CT – Today, Wednesday, June 29 at 1 p.m., Mayor Justin Elicker will join Paula Mann Agnew (Executive Director of Discovering Amistad) and others to welcome the return of the Schooner Amistad to its homeport of New Haven at Long Wharf Pier (389 Long Wharf Drive) and to promote the upcoming series of special free public events occurring from June 29th to July 4th.
The event will include a brief program, remarks and a tour of the Schooner Amistad to celebrate and promote the vessel’s visit to New Haven as part of its “2022 Voyage for Freedom” tour.
Free dockside tours, a film discussion of Stephen Spielberg’s Amistad, and an artist’s showcase are among the free public events scheduled. Additional details about all the public events can be found here.
Discovering Amistad is a nonprofit educational organization that provides full-year programming on the Amistad in classrooms and at historic sites of partner organizations.
