A Tired Republican Playbook, This Time Delivered by a Flailing Josh Elliott

New Haven, CT – As Democratic voters across Connecticut cast their ballots during the final days of early voting, Josh Elliott is resorting to a familiar but tired strategy of recycling desperate and false attacks Republicans have spent years trying to use against Governor Ned Lamont.

Many of Elliott's latest attacks are the same discredited claims featured in Bob Stefanowski's failed 2022 gubernatorial campaign, which have been repeatedly debunked by facts.

“Wow. Josh Elliott claimed he was going to campaign on issues, but as he gets more desperate, boy has he strayed from that path,” said Matthew Brokman, Campaign Chair. “Josh is now testing out Ryan Fazio’s attack lines for the November election. No wonder they’re in cahoots. I guess that’s what happens when you do not have actual accomplishments you can point to.”

Setting the Record Straight

Josh Elliott claims to support workers, but when it comes to his own employees… the truth tells a different story.

Josh Elliott championed a $15 minimum wage while paying his own employees just $10 an hour.
Josh Elliott claims he is advocating for healthcare reform, but he does not offer healthcare to employees at his family grocery store until they have been employed for a full year, full-time.
Governor Lamont introduced and championed legislation raising Connecticut's minimum wage to one of the highest in the nation, delivering real raises for hundreds of thousands of workers. Yesterday, he announced the minimum wage for 2027 will be $17.48.

Josh Elliott knowingly uses false attacks.

Josh Elliott knowingly put up a false ad claiming the Governor cut election security funding.
The truth - which Josh has admitted - is that Governor Lamont has invested millions of dollars in election security, cybersecurity, and voting infrastructure.
Elliott acknowledged this back in March 2026, and said he would stop the false attacks.

Josh Elliott changes positions on Governor Lamont to suit his political aspirations.

Josh Elliott claims the Governor raised taxes on working families.
In reality, Governor Lamont signed the largest middle-class tax cut in Connecticut history, increased the property tax credit, and capped motor vehicle taxes.
Elliott, in fact, defended these tax cuts against the same false accusations in 2022: “Yet again, Bob Stefanowski showed up with nothing but empty promises and reckless proposals. While the shady businessman was busy concocting a careless plan to share with voters, Governor Ned Lamont was busy delivering relief for Connecticut- more than $650 million in tax cuts, historic investments in our communities, and savings to safeguard our future. Bob has no interest in protecting the future of Connecticut residents- he promised to ‘rip the costs out of the state budget like we have never seen in our lives,’ destroying the safety net for our state's most vulnerable and decimating funding for education, safety, and healthcare-leaving CT's assistance programs bare," said State Representative Josh Elliott."

As Democrats make their decision before Primary Day, the choice could not be clearer. Governor Lamont has a proven record of delivering results. Josh Elliott is closing his campaign by parroting the same attacks Republicans have been making for years.
