Chris Murphy Raises $2.4 Million in Q1
HARTFORD – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Friday announced that he raised $2.4 million in the first three months of 2023 from an astounding 24,535 contributions. Contributions of $100 or less made up 93% of the donations received so far this year, and more than half of supporters were first time donors. Donations came from 166 of Connecticut’s 169 cities and towns, and strong grassroots support means more than 99% of his supporters are able to give again. Murphy ended the quarter with $5.8 million on hand.
“I'm so grateful for this overwhelming show of support for my campaign. It's proof that you can raise money the right way - no PAC money, no gimmicks, no fake deadlines - if you trust donors," said Murphy. "I've taken on some big, powerful interests in Congress, like the gun lobby. So I know that I'm going to need a ton of grassroots support to fight back against the outside money that is likely going to show up in Connecticut. But this huge, early support tells me people are ready to have my back."
