NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Central Connecticut State University School of Business joins the best minds in business education with its recent accreditation by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
AACSB’s mission is to foster engagement, accelerate innovation, and amplify impact in business education. Less than 5 percent of the more than 16,000 schools worldwide that grant business degrees have earned AACSB accreditation, according to AACSB. Schools are subject to a rigorous review process conducted by their peers in the business education community, ensuring that they have the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate business education. Fellow Connecticut higher education institutions that hold AACSB accreditation include Yale, Quinnipiac, and the University of Connecticut.
“AACSB accreditation places Central’s School of Business among the world’s best business schools,” says CCSU President Zulma R. Toro. “It indicates to prospective students, their parents, and our partners in the business community that the CCSU School of Business can deliver educational and career opportunities that will empower our students to become leaders in today’s global business environment.”
To earn and sustain business accreditation, an institution must align with 15 business accreditation standards that focus on mission and strategic management; support for students, faculty, and staff; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement of students and faculty. CCSU first earned AACSB accreditation in 2013.
Dr. Joseph Farhat, dean of the CCSU School of Business, notes, “AACSB accreditation is a seal of academic excellence that demonstrates our commitment to meeting the highest international standards in business education, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning.
“We are so proud of our faculty for their commitment to the process of continuous improvement, and we congratulate our faculty, students, staff, advisory board, and alumni on this accomplishment,” he adds.
A total of 890 institutions across 58 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation. Member institutions retain AACSB accreditation for five years, after which they must once again undergo the review process.
