Central announces May commencement dates, speakers

New Britain, Conn. - Central Connecticut State University will host two outdoor commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 16. (The inclement weather date is Sunday, May 17.) Both ceremonies also will be livestreamed at www.ccsu.edu/commencement/.
This year’s featured guest speaker is Dr. Brian K. Fowler, a cardiology fellow at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Fowler is a 2011 graduate of Central, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication and played for the Blue Devils football team as running back. He went on to receive his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Wife his wife, Dr. Fowler co-founded The Brian & Hannah Fowler Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting underprivileged high school students pursuing careers in the health professions.
Central President Zulma R. Toro and Dr. John Maduko, interim chancellor of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities, also will address the Class of 2026.
Commencement will take place on campus at Arute Field where undergraduates and graduates of each school will be recognized according to the following schedule:
9 a.m. ceremony
2:30 p.m. ceremony
The names of each degree candidate will be read aloud during both ceremonies. Each ceremony will run for approximately two hours.
