Mayor Elicker, City and Community Economic Development Leaders Kick-Off Holiday Shopping Season, Urge Support for Small Businesses Battered by Pandemic
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – On Wednesday, November 25 at 2 PM, Mayor Justin Elicker will join local small business owners and public and community economic development stakeholders for Shop Local, Shop Small, a virtual press event to kick-off the holiday shopping season and underscore the critical importance of supporting local small businesses this year. New Haven’s small business community continues to be challenged by public health restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Elicker and others will highlight the many ways City residents can help support local restaurants and small, independent retail businesses in these difficult times, both virtually or in-person. These safe, socially distant shopping options include Together New Haven Marketplace, New Haven Holiday Passport Program, and Small Business Saturday. The press briefing will be held virtually on Zoom and live streamed on the Mayor’s YouTube Channel.
Steve Fontana, Deputy Director of the New Haven Economic Development Administration, Office of Business Development, will emcee the event. Other speakers will include representatives from Town Green, Westville Village Renaissance Alliance, and Market New Haven.
