ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG, COMMISSIONER SAADI TO ANNOUNCE MULTIMILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT WITH NATIONAL JEWELRY RETAILER TO PROVIDE DIRECT RELIEF TO OVER 100 CONNECTICUT SERVICEMEMBERS AND VETERANS
AG Tong and Commissioner Saadi to be Joined by Connecticut Veteran Owed Refund
(Hartford, CT) – At noon on Thursday, July 21 at the Office of the Attorney General, Attorney General William Tong and Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Thomas J. Saadi will announce a multimillion dollar settlement with a national jewelry retailer that preyed on active duty servicemembers and veterans with false promises of charity, deceptive financing programs, and overpriced, low-quality jewelry. The settlement will provide refunds and relief for over 100 Connecticut servicemembers and veterans.
Attorney General Tong and Commissioner Saadi will be joined by veteran Julio Figueroa, Jr., who is entitled to a $3,000 refund after the company refused to stop automatic withdrawals even after he had paid for his jewelry in full. Attorney General Tong will share how servicemembers and veterans victimized by the company can obtain refunds and relief.
