Mayor Elicker Celebrates the Opening of the Whitney Modern Apartment Community

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Today, February 22, at 1 PM, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker will join City and elected officials, and developer Nancy Greenberg and associates to celebrate the grand opening of the Whitney Modern, a 42-unit apartment community incorporating the historic Abner Hendee home at 703 Whitney Ave.

Greenberg bought the property in 2018 from the New Haven Chapter of the American Red Cross, which operated out of the home for 60 years. The cottage, as the 1902 home is known, has since been meticulously renovated into seven boutique apartments. The Modern, a new three-story building, erected next to the home, features an additional 35 apartments. The carriage house behind the home has been transformed into a community amenity space.
