NEW HAVEN HEALTH DEPARTMENT HOSTS FIRST ANNUAL MOMMA’S LOVE COMMUNITY DAY

 

Health and wellness fair dedicated to the memory of late health department staffer, Latoya Glasper.

 

NEW HAVEN, CT – On Saturday, July 16th from 12 - 4 p.m. at Goffe Street Park, the New Haven Health Department, in collaboration with public and private community partners, will host Momma’s Love Community Day, a community-wide health fair for New Haven residents promoting a high quality of life, disease and injury prevention, and health, safety and family well-being.

 

The event will also serve as a reminder for continued vigilance by residents against COVID-19, and vaccinations will be available to residents six months and older. Cornell Scott Hill Health Center will be offering vaccinations, which are available at no-cost to anyone age six months and older. The fair will also feature live entertainment, complimentary food, a bounce house, a passport program to encourage residents to visit the community partners tables, raffles, gift baskets and more.

 

Momma’s Love Community Day is dedicated to the memory of Latoya Glaser, a member of the New Haven Health Department staff who was the original planner of the event, but who passed away on June 25 as the result of a health crisis. Glasper’s family will be on hand to accept a proclamation issued by Mayor Justin Elicker honoring Glasper’s 18 years of service to the City and healthcare field. Brief remarks and the presentation of the proclamation will occur at 1 p.m.

 

Other City departments and organizations partnering with the Health Department include: Department of Arts, Culture & Tourism; Department of Parks and Public Works; Livable City Initiative; New Haven Police Department; New Haven Public School’s Office of Youth Family & Community Engagement; Office of Emergency Management; Youth and Recreation Department; Access Health CT; American Red Cross; Clifford Beers; Community Action Agency; Elm City Communities; Fair Haven Clinic; Griffin Hospital; Junta Progressive Action; Miss Millionaire Mindset Sisterhood; New Reach; Oak Center; Project Backboard with NXTHVN; Sanctuary Kitchen by City Seed; Yale Police Department.
