Himes Votes to Pass Bipartisan Ukraine Support Act

Washington, DC— Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee Jim Himes today released the following statement after voting to pass the Ukraine Support Act:

“The Ukrainians’ fight is our fight— one for democracy and global stability. But our support thus far has been insufficient in substance and overdue in delivery. Last week in Ukraine, I met with President Zelenskyy to discuss the state of the war and to reassure him of the Congress’s ongoing support. I am grateful today to deliver on those reassurances with the bipartisan passage of this act, which reaffirms our diplomatic efforts, authorizes funding for defense and security, and imposes new sanctions against Russia. I hope that the Senate and the President will move swiftly in passing this legislation to provide relief to our Ukrainian friends and to send our adversaries in Russia and beyond an unambiguous rejection of their authoritarian warmongering.”
