SENATORS MURPHY AND BLUMENTHAL TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE ON TRUMP’S LATEST CORRUPT ATTACKS ON SENIORS
**Friday at 12:30pm**
HARTFORD, CT–U.S. Senators Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), on Friday, February 6, will host a press conference with nursing home workers and advocates following new investigative reporting revealing the Trump administration revoked a rule intended to protect nursing home residents and staff after nursing home executives donated millions to Donald Trump.
In December 2025, the Trump administration repealed a policy requiring increased staffing levels meant to reduce the neglect of seniors in nursing homes – a move experts say would save 13,000 lives per year. New reporting shows the repeal came only after industry insiders donated nearly $4.8 million to a Trump-aligned super PAC.
Senators Murphy and Blumenthal will gather with advocates for safe nursing homes in Hartford, CT to demand the Trump administration resume its support of nursing home staffing requirements while highlighting the human costs of Trump’s latest pay-to-play corruption that puts seniors in nursing homes, as well as the staff committed to caring for them, in harm's way.
