THURSDAY event: Medicaid/Medicare Anniversary Celebration and Call to Action
HARTFORD and STATEWIDE – Thursday marks an important milestone - the 61st anniversary of the passage of Medicaid and Medicare!
In Connecticut, these are even more special because of our HUSKY program – which covers one in four state residents, including people in every single city and town.
Unfortunately, many people on HUSKY don’t realize that HUSKY is Medicaid - and that the federal budget passed last year threatens coverage for tens of thousands of people, with new work requirements and eligibility changes.
A press conference Thursday will provide critical information:

Advocates will celebrate HUSKY in Connecticut, share information to help people on HUSKY make sure they have the information they need to help retain coverage, and call on leaders to protect the HUSKY we all know and love.
Speakers include people on HUSKY, DSS Commissioner Andrea Barton Reeves, Dawn Brown of the National Association of Social Workers, Kati Villeda of HUSKY for Immigrants, and Kristen Noelle Miller Hatcher of CT Legal Services.
Other surprise guests may be announced.
