Bridgeport Public Schools Announce the FAME Afterschool Arts Academy

 

Bridgeport, Connecticut – Bridgeport Public Schools Department of Performing & Visual Arts is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the Fine Arts, Music, & Entertainment (FAME) Academy, a district-wide, comprehensive arts program to be offered after-school to high school students.  Students will engage in visual arts, instrumental, vocal, and theatre instruction that will be showcased at various spring performances/presentations throughout the school year. 

 

The FAME Academy will employ Bridgeport Public School certified teachers, ensuring instruction is being delivered by high-quality arts educators that are committed to the long-term success of Bridgeport Public Schools students. Additionally, one high school intern will be hired to support the program, providing employment opportunities with real-world application in the arts. 

 

The FAME Afterschool Arts Academy will provide Bridgeport Public Schools students equitable access to high-quality, arts-focused programming. Our goal is to enhance successful programs, like the Bassick Theater Company, and to increase confidence and skill levels in visual arts, dance, orchestra, band, and choir. We have partnerships with local community organizations that will assist us in tailoring the program to meet the needs of all students.

 

Student applications will be available in early December. The program will begin in January 2022 and will be housed at Harding High School. Bussing will be provided to all accepted students.
