Bob Stefanowski Shows True Colors Calling Secretary of the State Denise Merrill “That Woman”
An unhinged Stefanowski provided a glimpse into how the former CEO would work with fellow Constitutional Officers through his belittling of Secretary Merrill
Hartford, CT – At yesterday’s loose cannon press conference, where Bob Stefanowki was fact-checked about his claims, the Republican nominee for governor barked “I’d walk down to that woman, and I’d say, ‘Here’s what I think we should do.’”
“That woman” has a name.
“Mr. Stefanowski, my title is Secretary Merrill, but you can call me Denise,” responded Secretary Denise Merrill.
And if any of this sounds familiar, it’s because he is following the playbook of his idol, former President Donald Trump, who said the same thing about another female leader. In 2020, Trump called Governor Gretchen Whitmer “that woman from Michigan.”
“Bob Stefanowski continues to show his true colors when he demeans Secretary Denise Merrill, who served in Connecticut’s House of Representatives, led the General Assembly as Majority Leader, and served as our Secretary of the State,” Sarah Locke, Executive Director of the Connecticut Democratic Party, said. “To belittle Denise – or any woman – with a dismissive term like “that woman” shows how little respect he has for women. ”
