“Two Decades, Same Questions”: Lamont Campaign Video Shows He Stood Up Then and is Standing Up Now
HARTFORD, CT – Today, the Ned Lamont for Governor campaign released a new video, “Two Decades, Same Questions,” drawing a direct parallel between the Iraq War in 2006 and the current conflict in Iran. The footage highlights Governor Lamont’s career-long consistency in questioning the risks of foreign intervention and the massive financial burden these conflicts place on Connecticut families.
The video features archival footage of Ned Lamont in 2006 standing against the Iraq War, which was then costing taxpayers $250 million per day. Twenty years later, Governor Lamont is again addressing a Middle East conflict—this time with a price tag that has ballooned to more than $1 billion per day.
“The parallel is impossible to ignore: twenty years apart, the cost of war grows higher, and the fundamental question remains the same,” said Francesca Capodilupo, Campaign Manager. “Governor Lamont has always been willing to ask why we’re spending billions abroad on a senseless war while families here are struggling as energy prices spike and working families struggle to pay the bills. Every Republican candidate for Governor has remained silent. They have no plan for the economic fallout and appear too afraid to speak up against the President as they fight for his endorsement.”
The video underscores that while the global stage changes, Ned Lamont’s common-sense approach remains the same. He offers the stable leadership Connecticut needs during a global crisis, showing the courage to focus on our priorities at home. For Ned Lamont, that means a commitment to affordability, clean energy, education, and jobs right here in Connecticut, not tacit support for another endless war.
