Bobby Sanchez Elected 41st Mayor of the City of New Britain

Sanchez Pledges to Lead with Integrity, Unity, and a Focus on Building a Safer, Fairer, More Affordable City

NEW BRITAIN, CTState Representative Bobby Sanchez has been elected Mayor of the City of New Britain, marking a new chapter for the city’s future. Surrounded by family, supporters, and volunteers at his election night headquarters, Sanchez thanked the people of New Britain for their trust and pledged to lead with transparency, compassion, and determination.

“Tonight, New Britain chose progress,” said Mayor-Elect Bobby Sanchez. “I’m deeply honored by the faith this community has placed in me, and I will work every day to earn it. This campaign was never about one person, it was about bringing people together to make our city stronger, safer, and fairer for everyone.”

Sanchez, a lifelong New Britain resident, former educator, and long-serving State Representative, ran on a platform focused on strengthening public safety, improving schools, expanding affordable housing, and ensuring that city government works for working families. His campaign emphasized unity, inclusion, and accountability and built a broad coalition of support across every neighborhood in the city.

“We ran on the promise of change and now it’s time to deliver,” Sanchez added. “Starting tomorrow, we’ll begin forming a Transition Committee that includes community leaders, educators, small business owners, and residents from every part of the city. Together, we’ll get to work on a 100-day action plan to restore trust in city government, support law enforcement and social service partnerships, and make sure every resident has a voice in shaping our future.”

Sanchez’s campaign was endorsed by a diverse group of local leaders and community organizations who praised his record of public service and collaborative approach to problem-solving.

“This victory belongs to the people of New Britain,” Sanchez said. “To everyone who knocked on doors, made calls, donated, or simply believed, thank you. Now, let’s get to work together.”

Sanchez will take office next week and his transition team will be announced in the coming days, along with details on the upcoming community listening tour and his first 100-day agenda.
