“Shawn's demonstrated values and record make him the most trusted candidate for state treasurer.” – Joseph P. Toner, President of the Greater Hartford-New Britain Building & Construction Trades Council, Business Manager, Iron Workers, Local 15
(APRIL 16, 2018) - Today, Shawn Wooden, a Democrat running for Connecticut state treasurer, announced that he has received an endorsement from the Greater Hartford-New Britain Building & Construction Trades Council.
“Shawn has always been a champion on issues that support working families because he understands the struggles hard working women and men face,” said Joseph Toner, President of the Greater Hartford-New Britain Building Trades Council. “Shawn's strong values and 20 years of experience in the law and finance make him the most qualified candidate for Treasurer by far.”
Wooden is running to fill the position of state treasurer being vacated by incumbent Denise Nappier.
“Shawn's demonstrated values and track record make him the most trusted candidate for Treasurer,” said Toner. “We are proud to stand with Shawn to be the next state treasurer of Connecticut because he has always stood with us.”
The Greater Hartford-New Britain Building & Construction Trades Council represents more than 5,000 hardworking men and women in Hartford County, Middlesex County, Windham County, and Litchfield County.
“I’m honored to have the support of the Greater Hartford-New Britain Building & Construction Trades Council,” said Wooden. “Our state is at a pivotal moment and the next state treasurer will help to decide the direction of our state and whether our kids and grandkids will be able to get good-paying jobs and raise their families here.”
Wooden is the son of a TV repairman and a teacher’s aide on North Main Street in Hartford who now leads the public pension plan investments practice as a partner at Day Pitney law firm.
“The leaders we choose in this election will decide whether we have an economy that works for everyone,” said Wooden. “I’ve spent my professional and public life on the side of working families and advising clients on protecting investments. I’m ready on day one to do the same as Treasurer of the State of Connecticut.”
The announcement of the Greater Hartford-New Britain Building Trades Council comes on the heels of several other important endorsements for Wooden, including New Haven Mayor Toni Harp; Mansfield Mayor Paul Shapiro; Waterbury Mayor Neil O’Leary; State Senator Tim Larson, East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington, South Windsor; State Senator Ed Gomes, Bridgeport and Stratford; and Chairman Antony Casagrande, Wolcott Democratic Town Committee.
