250,000 Connecticut Residents Have Lost or Will Lose Affordable Insurance:

Advocates Call on State Leaders to Act at Tuesday event

HARTFORD and STATEWIDE -   Advocates representing more than 20 organizations throughout the state will gather tomorrow (Tuesday, April 28) at the LOB and Capitol to urge state leaders to act now to prevent catastrophic losses to affordable health coverage for more than 250,000 people.

At 10 am, advocates will break down how 250,000 people have or will lose coverage in 2026 and 2027 due to federal cuts and policy changes. They include people losing Access Health CT financial help, enrollees in the Covered TCT program, and whose coverage will be impacted by new work requirements and other red tape. Advocates will outline solutions, including supporting existing programs and raising revenue within Connecticut.

When people are uninsured, they avoid going to the doctor, skip preventative care, and need more expensive services. Providers will lose millions in revenue and be forced to cut costs in ways that will impact access and quality.

The Lobby Day, by Health Justice Now, will begin with remarks at 10 am in room 1B of the LOB.
